Vibeke or Mary?

Who do you perfer?

I personally perfer Vibeke but I like Mary but I just get feeling that her voice will result in a sound that will lead the band in a commercial sound.

I love both singers however, Vibeke's voice is more suiting for Tristania, although I've heard that Tristania is moving in a completely different musical direction, if so Mary shall be perfectly fitting for this as her voice suits the more 'Rock' sounds and not 'Gothic' as Vibeke's does.

Conclusion, I like both for different things.

I think Tristania will be moving into a new sound. I was looking at their new promos and the band wardrope has change greatly. The band look like your typical rock band, so I took that as a sign that the music is going to be changing.

Listen to the video, it has Vibeke versions of Sanguine Sky, Down and Lotus. Then it has Mary singing the same songs. I think Mary sings all three well.

I don't like Mary's version of Tristania old songs, like Angina, Beyond the veil...

Maybe her voice will be better for their new musical direction but I think their new music isn't my cup of tea.

I don't like the new old songs versions by Mariangela but I wait till the new album to judge her.
For the old songs I love surely Vibby but for the new Tristania I wait because till now I don't listen to new songs with Mariangela

well... vibeke is my love... vibeke is the gothic voice mary is not. tristania was the leader-band in gothic female scene now they are not. i think mary's voice is more "rock" more easy listening so i don't really like her....

I agree what do you tell Frozen, but they are choose this since Morten has abandoned the band

I don't think I have a preference yet.
I really want to like Mary, but the band don't seem to be making the most of her in live videos. Hopefully they will have released a new album and I can make my decision then.

yes,Morten from Sirenia.
In few words, when Morten was with them they were gothic metal. In the following two albums they tried to copy the old style (without any chance and success, in my opinion). Then they decided to change and they did "Illumination".

I don't really agree with this- I think they d it very well with World of Glass and Ashes. Maybe they changed their sound a bit, as it's natural, but it seemed to me like a natural evolution, over all with World of Glass, which is a realy masterpiece in my opnion, even if it's obviosuly different from the previous works (but see, there's also a big difference between Widow's Weeds and Beyond the Veil Wink

Anyway yes, I would have prefered Tristania to stay as it was, the ethereal band that used to be. Now, without Vibeke, it feels to me like it has lost that... Illumination was already very different, but still you had some passages that kept the essence of Tristania.

I think they should change their name or something from now on, as they seem to be going to sound so different from what they were.

I don't think Mariangela is a bad singer-she's got power and attitude, but it's just not what made Tristania what it was; I don't think she fits the concept. So they are gonna change...they can make still well if they go more heavy metal, but as I said, it'll not be Tristania completely anymore...

...just compare with the majesty, the elegance, the ethereal voice Vibeke had, the atmosphere she could give to every single recording and show...it's something I've never seen in anyone else, and something lost now.

So it kind of hurts seeing the old songs so distorted, but still I've got the feeling they are able to do a good album, yet too different to be recognized as Tristania.

Not a big fan of Tristania or anything but I prefer Mary. Vibeke's also a great singer but if Tristania is going to be more rock then Vibeke's voice wouldn't fit.
