Hailing from Bridgnorth and Telford in Shropshire SheBangg are fronted by Chrissii Wing who obviously has gained the confidence and ability from her long standing experience in the entertainment industry to emulate such influences as Janis Joplin. With a style that has been broadly described as a combination of Power Pop, Blues, Soul and Melodic Rock SheBangg could almost be labelled as addictive due to their talent in reeling in an audience by what might best be described as a “tidal wave of harmony”.

http://www.shebangg.co.uk/shebangg/(Q)What are the origins of SheBangg?
(A)Originally we began as the duo of Tim (Barratt) and Chrissii (Wing), then Leyton (Burgess) joined to form what would turn out to be the three core members. After a number of departures Ryan (Mortier) joined to form the most stable of line-ups. Along the way we began as a covers band which gradually transformed into playing solely our own material.
(Q)After these almost Spinal Tap type series of departures are you comfortable with current line-up?
(A)Yes, it is true that a number of band members have departed from SheBangg but to the best of our recollection none of them did so by exploding in a shower of dust!!
(Q)Where did the name SheBangg originate from?
(A)Basically one day we were throwing possible band names forward and someone suggested SheBangg, as in “The whole shebang”. We went with that because the name was reminiscent of a rock band with a female singer. The extra ‘g’ came in because we discovered there was a Swedish band called Shebang.
(Q)What can you tell us about the video you did for your song ‘Inspiration’?
(A)The “ghost girl” as she’s come to be known was supposed to be a younger version of Chrissii with the photos representing childhood and how she was influenced by music growing up. Another aspect, bearing in mind the lyrics, were about the musical influences of SheBangg and how they might be surprised they would still be influencing bands in the future.
(Q)One of the trademarks of SheBangg is the use of backing vocals from all backing musicians, what are your thoughts on this?
(A)Bearing in mind our influences like the Beach Boys and the Magic Numbers we think it’s a bit retro in this regard. From a personal point of view we think of it as being the icing on the musical cake.
(Q)What are your thoughts on your lead vocalist being dubbed “The Voice” by Jim Hawkins of the BBC Sunday Rock Show?
(A)We think it’s pretty amazing especially as we were fairly new at the time.
(Q)What do SheBangg do when not performing or rehearsing?
(A)Typically a night out for us is to venture out and support friends who play in other bands.
(Q)What was the last book you read?
(A)Chrissii – Harry Potter, The Deathly Hallows.
Leyton – The Real Frank Zappa Book.
Ryan - Da Vinci Code.
Tim - Idiots Guide to being a Musician and a map book.
(Q)Where do you hope SheBangg will be in five or ten years?
(A)Hopefully by then we’ll playing the big venues and making a living from what we do. A bonus will of course will be a Greatest Hits album!
(Q)Is there anything else you would like to say which hasn’t been covered?
(A)Yes, we’re always on the lookout for Sponsorship and Endorsements so if anyone is out there feel free to make an approach. Tonight we’ll be debuting a song written especially for Rock Against Child Pornography called "Innocence Lost", we hope that both the event organisers and audience like it!
