Marcela Bovio is the lead vocalist of Stream of Passion, a band originally built around her by Arjen Anthony Lucassen using musicians from around the world. Now with two albums and a live DVD behind them they are soon to release a second CD before embarking on a second tour with a number of dates announced in the Netherlands and Poland.

(Q)In ten words or less how would you define Stream of Passion?
(A)A emotive, mysterious, passionate, alternative, gothic, Dutch/Mexican metal
band.

(Q)Stream of Passion have released a number of Blogs on the subject of the
new album. I know you probably don't want to give away too much before the
official release but what can be expected?

(A)Well the old Stream of Passion sound is there, but the songs are heavier and
more band orientated. We have so much fun playing live that we wanted to
make an album that would be fun and exciting to play live.

(Q)When the album has been released will Stream of Passion be touring again
and if you are will your sister Diana, a good singer in her own right, be
joining you again in the manner of Live in the Real World?

(A)Diana is currently pursuing a career in musical theater back in Mexico,
which has always been her true dream. So no, for the moment we have no plans
of having her join us on stage; would be great if we eventually get the
chance to do it, though!

(Q)During the Live in the Real World tour you made frequent use of an
electric violin. In a genre of music where this instrument might be described as
unique, what do you think made it work so well?

(A)The violin is an instrument that can produce a very wide range of emotions,
and I think it fits well with the highly emotional content of the songs.

(Q)Last December you were one of a line-up of performers which included
such names as Floor Jansen, Doro and Russell Allen at Christmas Metal Symphony, what do you have to say about this experience?

(A)It was amazing! For me it was a huge honor to be able to share an evening
with such great singers and musicians. Playing "Passion" from Stream of
Passion with an orchestra was also amazing, and to be able to sing in a duet
with Johan from Tiamat and Matts from Therion was absolutely fantastic.

(Q)It seems that the more time that passes the more bands emerge with a
female vocalist at the helm, in your opinion which band of this nature has been
the most influential in the world of music?

(A)As I look back at least for me one of the biggest influences was Dead Can
Dance. Even though they're not really metal I think their sound and atmosphere
influenced a lot of us.

(Q)Given the fact you have proven vocally capable of more than one style of
singing, what is the attraction of singing in a metal band?

(A)The energy on stage, and the energy you get from the audience. Singing opera in a theater is fantastic, but there's something about a rock/metal show that has this magic, I can't really describe it.

(Q)At the current time who would you say was your favorite band or singer
and what is it which makes them special in your opinion?

(A)Muse is nowadays still my favorite band. I love their songs and their
arrangements; to me is amazing how they can put such a great live show with
only drums, bass and guitar most of the time.

(Q)Recently After Forever announced they were going there separate ways as
they didn't feel the energy toward the band anymore. Do you think there will
come a time when Stream of Passion will feel the same way?

(A)That kind of thing you can never predict, I think, but that's definitely not
the case with us right now! We're really enthusiastic about playing more
with our latest line-up, we really enjoy being on stage together.

(Q)If you had the choice of any superpower which would it be and why?

(A)Oh I would love to be able to fly. I had this constant dream when I was a
kid where I could just lift off into the air and fly and twirl around, it
was a great feeling!

(Q)Thank you for the interview, do you have final messages for your fans?

(A)First of all thank you all for your incredible support! Stay tuned for the
new album coming up soon, we're really excited about it and we hope you'll
be as well!
